We’re all capable of great change. At The Corvallis Advocate, we believe change is best made together. Which is why we invite you to share your wildest dreams for the Corvallis community, at our upcoming “Dream Launch” Open Mic Night.

A free-to-enter benefit drive, we will present our renewed mission and goals moving forward, in face of challenges in the alternative weekly biz.

After a brief presentation and pledge announcements, we’ll turn the room over to the audience, so anyone can come share their vision for a better Corvallis.

Featured will be small gifts and raffle prizes.

We’re also hauling a giant, delightfully corny “Corvallis Vision Board” and distributing dream logs for people to jot down their ideas. We’ll ask willing participants to post their ideas to the board at our “Dream Launch” event and those to come. This way, our shared vision for Corvallis will continue to evolve. Even more, we’ll use the community’s feedback to determine future events and story ideas, and feature some in an upcoming issue.

Not sure what you want to say? Get creative; anything goes. But if you need a place to start, here are some things to consider:

What, in your wildest dreams, do you wish for Corvallis, big or small? Think restaurants, city ordinances, recreation…
Are you or someone you know doing kick-ass things, and not getting enough credit or support?
What challenges do you, or those you know, face in Corvallis?
How can we better combine our knowledge and strengths as a community?
What can we do as a community, that nobody else is doing?

We want to hear your answers to all these questions and more on Tuesday, May 1, from 7-9 p.m. And what better way to launch our dreams than in the “clouds”, at Cloud & Kelly’s Public House. Open mic sign up starts prior to the event, at 6:30 p.m.

Lend an ear to all walks of life, including influential city leaders such as Benton County commissioner Anne Schuster, and Corvallis School Board President, and our commissioner candidate endorse, Vince Adams.

Sponsors for the “Dream Launch” event include Habitat for Humanity, the Corvallis Farmers’ Market, Darkside Cinema, Shonnard’s Nursery, and Marie Jane’s.
